Laura is the Manager of Operations, Technology and Quality Improvement for the Dakota County Public Health Department in West St. Paul, MN. She has worked for Dakota County since 2002, supervising a staff of professional public health nurses and community outreach staff prior to her position as Manager. Before moving to Dakota County, Laura worked at Puget Sound Neighborhood Health Centers in Seattle, WA. PSNHC is a federally qualified community health center, specializing in primary medical care and dental services to the Medical Assistance population.
Laura received her Bachelor of Science degree from Seattle University and her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Washington and is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. She has concentrated the last 20 years of her 35 year nursing career in the public health sector, primarily in family health and maternal/child health. The focus of her work for the last three years has been in the area of public health quality improvement and performance management.
Laura lives in St. Paul, MN where she spends her free time planning her next motorcycle trip, biking around Lake Phalen, keeping abreast of the latest writings by P.D James and Martha Grimes and knitting more scarves and hats than her family could ever use.
Sarah Wovcha, JD, MPH
Sarah Wovcha joined Children's Dental Services as Executive Director in January of 2001. She holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School and a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard School of Public Health. As a legislative advocate, Ms. Wovcha was closely involved with the passage and implementation of Minnesota's 2009 pioneering dental therapy legislation. Ms. Wovcha received the Betty Hubbard Maternal and Child Health Leadership Award in 2009 and the Macalester College Distinguished Citizen Award in 2013.
Dr. Do, DDS
Dr. Do has over twenty-two years' experience as a dentist at Children's Dental Services, including twelve years as Dental Director. She is exceptionally experienced at provision of dental care to diverse, low-income and special needs communities.
Carla McMorris, DH
Carla McMorris comes to CDS with over 25 years of experience in her field, with more than 20 years of that time spent in public health dentistry. Prior to coming to CDS, Carla worked with the late Dr. John M Williams in North Minneapolis for 7 years.
